7 tips to delay skin aging
January 31, 2023
To look younger, you have to take care of your skin by adopting a lifestyle that promotes healthy habits. Here are 7 foolproof tips:
1. Hydrate
Hydration is essential to ensure the proper functioning of your body and contributes to healthy skin. As our skin needs to be hydrated, winter and summer, it is recommended to drink at least 1.5 liters of water every day. During physical activity, this water intake must be increased. Here are some tips for drinking more:
- Upon awakening: a glass of water to eliminate toxins accumulated during the night;
- In the morning: a herbal tea;
- Before dinner: a glass of water to aid digestion;
- In the afternoon: herbal tea in or flavored water (citrus fruits, berries, cucumber slices, etc.)
- Before supper: a glass of water to aid digestion;
- After supper: herbal tea;
- And finally at bedtime: a glass of water for a good restorative night!
2. Eat a balanced diet
We often hear that health is on the plate, and what about beauty?! You can reduce the effects of aging by eating a diet rich in:
- Antioxidants that promote cell renewal;
- Omega 3 which ensure the elasticity of the skin;
- Vitamins A, C and E that preserve the youth of the skin.
3. Sleep well
It is at night, when we sleep that cells renew and regenerate. The more you follow sleep cycles, the healthier your skin is. It is recommended to sleep at least 7 hours per night in a ventilated room.
4. Limit alcohol consumption and quit smoking
Alcohol dehydrates the skin and increases blemishes. Even regular consumption accelerates the aging of cells and therefore of the skin in addition to making the complexion dull. Go in moderation. Regarding tobacco, it is not only harmful to the skin but puts your health at risk.
5. Reduce stress
Stress is bad for health and for the skin because it accelerates aging. In the presence of stress, our body produces cortisol, produces sebum and promotes free radicals that attack our cells and accelerate skin aging. Results: a duller complexion and more imperfections. Take time for yourself and incorporate breathing and relaxation techniques into your routine.
6. Watch out for the sun!
Oh the sun! As much as we appreciate its presence, we must be wary of it. Prolonged exposure without protection can damage our skin. At best, it ages prematurely. The spots appear and the wrinkles are more and more marked. But sometimes the punishment is even greater: melanoma can develop. We must therefore protect ourselves. Here are some tips:
- Avoid exposing yourself to the hottest hours;
- Wear bright , lightweight, breathable clothing that is non-irritating to the skin;
- Opt for a day cream and sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30;
- Wear a hat and sunglasses.
7. Adopt a healthy beauty routine
First, healthy skin is clean skin. Choose mild soaps or cleansers and moisturize your skin morning and evening with an anti-wrinkle cream, targeted for the eyes and lip contour. Massage your face when you apply your creams to create microcirculation in the skin, which helps to make it smoother and the complexion fresher. And finally, to eliminate dead skin, use a mask or scrub once a month.
